Christmas that year. The people felt the flags shaking at the fire side while the storm was on. Curraghs were blown away and broken up. There was on carried off for a quarter of a mile. Houses were smashed and roofs were blown off. Slates were sent flying a good way off. It was very difficult to get the slates of the exact size after the storm. The chimney pots were tumbled off and broken. The corn stooks were tumbled and blown away.
