- A strange thing happened in this district some years ago. A child was born in Roshine but the child never grew up. It lay for years in the cradle and cried so much it annoyed everyone. The child amused itself by picking straws out of the mattress and playing the most beautiful melodies on them. It had a remarkable power of telling the unknown and even the future. If the hens laid out he could tell where to find the eggs. If people lost anything he could direct them to where it was.
He lived to be eighty years and yet never grew. The child belonged to the family of Algeo.
