- We have potatoes growing on our farm every year. There are three and a half acres sown under potatoes. We do not plant the same amount of potatoes each year. Some years we plant more than others.
My brothers prepare the work for this. Before the potatoes can be planted the ground must be ploughed first, and then it must be ploughed secondly, then it is cultivated and then it is harrowed and lastly the drills are opened. After the drills are opened the manure is carted to the field by means of a horse and cart then it is throwed in the drills into large lumps till it is all carted out.
