Rathmullen to Derry was only one shilling so that in those days people were from here to Derry for three shillings. For those who walked it cost one shilling. Rathmullen in those days was a prosperous busy town. It served four or five neighbouring parishes.
Now all is changed buses and motor-cars have taken the place of the side-cars. Passengers go by bus from Milford and from Carrigart and Fanad by Letterkenny to Derry. Three buses go and come everyday and four on Saturdays. The return fare from Milford is five shillings and the single fare is three shillings and sixpence. Motors usually charge sixpence a mile.
