An uncle of my father's a man named James McElhinney, the father of the present James McElhinney of Leatbeg, was a very strong man. He could lie down flat on the ground and his brother would roll a twenty-two stone sack of corn on his back and he could rise with it and walk away with it.
Sometimes his brother would get on top of the sack and he could rise with all.
There was a man who lived in the town land of Glenfannet named Paddy Gallagher but he was known as Paddy (C?) and if he would shake hands with anybody he could burst the points of their fingers if he liked.
One time a tinker heard of the great man. Paddy was a great fighter too and he came to fight with him.
When he went into Paddy's house he was eating some potatoes out of a basket. He invited the tinker in to eat some potatoes along with himself.
Then the tinker told him his errand and Paddy told him to wait(continues on next page)- Collector
