    well with cold water and the water is thrown out. Then the butter is salted and washed well with cold water again. Then the water is thoroughly beaten out of the butter.
    Sometimes the butter is made into prints for sale and other times it is just made into little round balls for the table.
    The milk that is left in the churn after the butter is taken off is called butter milk. The butter milk is used for baking bread and it is given to calves and pigs and some of it is put into a vessel and left out with the fowl in the Summer time to drink.
    About seventy years ago we ourselves lost the butter from the milk.
    It happened as follows.
