Away behind the Rosses hills
The sun had gone to rest
The little birds in leafy bowers
Had sought that night their rest
On such an eve through shady bowers
As lovers went to stray
The fishermen cast out their nets
In deep Sheephaven Bay.

And that night there a maiden fair
Stood by that peaceful shore
Her cheeks bloomed like the purple heath
On the sides of Ganiamore
And softly falling o'er her neck
The golden ringlets lay
Like the evening sun reflected back
From deep Sheephaven Bay.
