    fired a volley from his own rifle and commanded his men to fire to make the soldiers believe that he had a gang of highway men in hiding along with himself. He commanded the officer to take off his uniform which Sean Crossagh put on and gave his own tattered garments to the officer to put on. After that he bade farewell to the glen which has since been called Glen Crossagh.
