Blinking of cows or horses is wrought by certain persons slighting or thinking ill or little of their neighbour's stock. The animals affected would become paralized or silly.
Certain forms of cures were wrought, such as cutting a piece of the person's clothing that was supposed to have committed the deed, and burning it under the animal's nose. Another cure was to compel the person to say "God bless the beast" - as it was said that the devil had to depart before a higher Name.- Collector
