    him. He wasn't clever enough for Dan and lost the case. I never heard what the case was about but he told me often that it prayed on his conscience & he gave up the law altogether. Other reports have it that the old Colonel (his uncle) was a very honourable old soldier who loved trust and straightforwardness and he persuaded him to give up law saying "It was too sinful" a life & to take up the church instead. Anyhow, Robert became a clergyman and remained so until his death. He was buried at the Crossroads church about 30 years ago. His father, Sam, was buried in one of the aisles of the church.
