- In olden times the people talked more about fairies than they do now. I heard them saying that they were always seen on Crogham-Hill, that is about seven miles from here I also heard them say that there were hawthorn bushes growing beside a house not far from here, and the people were afraid to cut them as it seems they belong to the fairies.
I never heard of any other name for the place that the fairies lived in unless a fort I think that it was nearly all trees that surrounded the fairy fort. I do not know if there is an entrance hole in the centre or not, or of any person that ever when down to view it.
