    He lived beneath the Stars and Stripes
    While fortune on him shone
    At length he thought he would come back
    to see his dear old home.
    He was shaded by Detectives
    to his friends he bade good-bye
    And started off to Africa
    his fortune for to try.
    On board the Kinfauncastle
    from Dublin she set sail
    She was a British steamer
    and she carried the Capetown mail.
    And amongst the cabin passengers
    He met an Irish man
    All with his wife and family
    bound for that distant land.
    They both shook hands and made aquantance
    in the real old Irish style.
    The stranger looked suspicious
    in vain he tried to smile
