Co. Donegal - Ballindrait is the village which I live beside.
It's Irish name is Baile an Droichid which means "the town of the bridge". Long ago there used to be no bridge there at all, only a ford and at that time it is said that when Saint Patrick was crossing this ford the wheel of his chariot came off, and he had great bother getting it on.
Also there was a mason who once went through Ballindrait and he said that "Ballindrait was a finished town for he heard no sound of a trowel".- Collector
