    Then the wool was "broken" by being brushed from one to another of two brushes called "Cards". These cards were just wide wire brushes with wooden backs and handles. The brush was made of hundreds of wire teeth and was usually about 10" x 5" and the handle about 5" x 1 1/2". Two or a pair was the set.
