    Stumpy kept appearing from generation to generation. Then the people of the house thought that if they went to America surely Stumpy would not follow them on such a long journey. When they were on the liner, feeling relieved at the thought of leaving Stumpy behind, they heard the familiar stump stump, and Stumpy was on board too.
