    The English soldiers often tried to take this priests life but they did not succeed in doing this. This priest had some men that always helped him when help was needed. These men that helped him always knew when he was in trouble because he lit a bonfire where these men could see it. All of these men came from Fanad.
    This day he saw the English soldiers coming and he lit the bonfire but the Fanad men did not see it. He was standing on the rock which is now called Father Hegarty's rock when he jumped off it
