  2. The Corncrake or Landrail
    Is a common though very elusive bird, which visits this country in Summer time. It lays eight to ten eggs in a santy nest in a field of corn or long grass where it's thin body and long legs enable it to run along the ground with ease, while it remains quite hidden.
