When the workers arrived next morning they saw the strange tracks on the bricks and immediately told the manager. He inspected them and the news soon spread. People from far and near came to see the strange sights but the only conclusion that they could come to was that the fairies did really inhabit the tree and as no pathway was left for them, they had to walk over the bricks when they returned at night.
The bricks which had the marks of dolls' feet on them were very carefully dried and were greatly sought after for souveniers.
