- There are three forges in our parish.
The names of the smiths are John Mc Loughlin, James Jhonson, and Neill Harkin.
These forges are made of wood; One of them is close by the main road situated in the village of Barrowkee. At the end of a cross road.
He has to work very hard; He makes shoes for horses.
He has to put the iron in the fire for half an hour
Then he takes it out and when it is red hot he takes a sled and hammer the iron until it is round it is round.
His forge is at a river because when his iron is warm he has to put it in the river to cool it.
He has bellows to light the fire.
