    scald their hands with hot water to keep the butter from sticking to their hands.
    The women weigh the butter on scales. So that they have no bother when the go to sell it.
    The scales are made of iron with wooden plates on them to put the butter on.
    There are only two wooden plates one for the half pound weight and the other for the butter.
    It is only weighed in half pounds weights.
    Some of the churns are smaller and some bigger than others.
    Some of them are only made to hold four cows' milk.
    When the butter is taken off the milk.
    Some people churn it over a second time so that they would get all the butter.
    This milk is used for baking bread and the rest is used to give the pigs and small calves.
