   On St Bridget's 'Eve you open the door and welcome in St. Bridget, you make a rush cross and place it above the door head. On St. Patrick Day, 17th March Irish people wear shamrock in honour of St. Patrick the patron saint of Ireland. Shrove Tuesday is also called pancake Tuesday because it is the custom to make pancakes and put a ring and a button and a small piece of silver in them. Good Friday is a good day to plant potatoes for they will not rot. On Easter Saturday children build an Easter house and on Easter Sunday they boil eggs. Whit Monday is a very unlucky day to go to bathe. If you get up early on May morning you will get up early all the rest of the year. On Hallow Eve the children get apples and nuts, they hang up an apple to the line, and put one in a tub of
