- There was a great storm in this district on Friday the 22nd December, in the year 1894. It started at nine o clock at night and it continued on and got worse. At four o'clock in the morning it began to cease. It stripped the roofs off houses and tumbled corn stacks and rooted out trees. There were no lives lost in this district.There was a great thunder-storm in this district about fifty years ago ; the lightning set fire to a corn stack.
