- (continued from previous page)meal people got was their porridge at eight o'clock in the evening and they got nothing to the next morning. In olden times the only special kind of food that people had was beef at Christmas, and on Easter Sunday they ate eggs. They never got any tea unless at a feast time and if any tea was left it was left past to another feast time. In olden days it was mugs and bowls were used.
