- (continued from previous page)it is a sign of rain. When the wild geese seek the shelter of the hills it is a sign of a coming storm. The clouds hang low over the hills, and turn black. The moon grows dark and a ring appears around it.Old fishermen fortell of approaching storms, by looking at the sea, and if it is dark in colour a storm is sure to rise, in this manner they warn ships when one is brewing.
Signs of rain in poetry form.Loud quacks the duck the peacock cries,The distant hills are looking nigh, how restless is the snorting wind.Over the grass the swallow wings, the cricket too how sharp he sings.Puss on the hearth with velvet paws, wiping over her jaws,In the clear streams the fish rise, nimble catches and cautious flies.Hark the chairs and tables crack, dogs quit mutton on the grass to feast.- Informant
