pedlars and dealers in feathers and rags visited the district and there always will be plenty of them to visit it.
A penny is called a wing, a sixpence is called a tanner, a shilling is called a bob, and a five shilling piece is called a horseman. Fourpenny pieces are now gone out of use and it is rare to see a crown piece or a gold sovereign.
No one in this district was ever lucky enough to get any coins that always returned to him or her.
