    Long ago the people had a very hard time. They hadn't white bread, or jam, butter, butter, buns or pastry, but a piece of oak-cake or fadge. They would take potatoes for their breakfast dinner and supper.
    The bed clothes they had were all home made. They made their quilts at home, blankets, and sheets. They made them all out of lint. Sometimes they all gathered to a house for quilting. The clothes they wore were all home made. They had old wooden beds with a straw mattress. When ever they
