- (continued from previous page)"Creag Ultan" or Ultan's rock. This well is part of a little stream. On the right bank of the stream there lies a little cross made of ordinary field stone and is supposed to have been made by the Saint himself. This little cross was accidentally broken by a boy, the son of Mr. Nicholson the local landlord so his father replaced it with a bigger cross on which is written "Erected by Mr. Nicholson 1860". Although the visit can be done to this well at anytime it was customary to do it on the first Monday of every quarter and people wrongly thought the well was only for children. This was due to the mixing of the two names of St. Ultan and Brother Ultan. Brother Ultan seemingly was a great lover of children.
