In those times people were very hardy. Their feet were hard. A story is told of a man who when whins were to be tramped stepped into a creel of whins and tramped them until the jags were all booked. Never a drop of blood came from his feet during the time he was tramping the whims. Collected from Jas Kelly, Ballyharry, Moville, Co. Donegal.
Told to him by his mother Mrs. Kelly (deceased) about 20 years ago, she then being 40 years.- Informant
