- (continued from previous page)Carolan went home. His wife could talk when he pulled the pin from behind her ear.
- There was once a man named Carolan and he used to be out late at night. His name was Carolan. One niht he was walking along the shore and he met three men carrying a coffin. He said that he would help them. So he went under the coffin. Then the other three men ran away. He left down the coffin and opened it and a lovely girl sat up in it. He brought her home with him but she could not talk.
That night twelvemonth he was out again int he same place and he heard a man saying "this night twelvemonth the Carolan man took the girl from us," and the other man said "What good is she to him when she cannot talk to him?" The other man said "if he pulls the pin out of the back of her head she will talk to him."
