   When the lamp burns dimly it is a sign of bad weather. Cricket's chirping is a sign of rain. If a cat in washing itself puts its paw behind its ear it is a sign of bad weather. Sheep gathering into a sheltery corner indicate approaching bad weather. A pig refusing to leave its sty is a sign of bad weather. When starlings and blackbirds come around the door it is a sign of snow. Seagulls lying about hedges are a sign of rough weather. If the mountains look near it is a sign of rain. If you see a white fog rising off the mountains it is a sign of fine weather. Put mayflowers in a box the night before May day. If they be withered in the morning that is lucky. The one who has the first smoke and the one who has the second smoke will bring everyone's butter.
