    And then I made away.
They searched the slúbbles of Coillte Mach,
The woods from Baile na Muc,
    To Sliabh na mbán
    The gulfs, the bayo,
The bathing houses at the quay,
    The ferry boats and steamers
As they were going to sea.
Oh man! They had a sharp look out
By land and sea and round about,
But there was no account of me
    Or of my retreat.
You can travel the wide world far and near
The likes again you'll never hear,
A fox to get so safe and clean
As I did from the hounds.
