- years and ago there was gold buried on Castleknock hill. There was an old Granny who lived in a little cottage near the gold. She had a little hen and dog. The hen guarded the gold in the day time and the dog guarded it in the night time. In aften years the hen and dog died. Then the old Granny died and the three of them are supposed to be seen at the bottom of the hill at night.Kathleen Stokes

Told to me by my Grand Mother
Mrs Plunket Castleknock Co Dublin - The foll. were written by Marue Cassidy 12 and she got from her mother (labourer's widow) Castleknock who doesn't remember from whom she got them.
There used to be a window in the Castle and who ever put a lighting candle in the window no matter how strong the wind was it would not blow it out.
