- There was once a man called Lord Ashe and he owned a lot of land in that area now called Ashtown about 2 1/2 miles from Dublin and he had no heirs to give his land to as he was getting old. He gave his land to the people where he was living and the people called it Ashtown in memory of his kindness to them and that is how Ashtown got its name.
