- A Shipwreck.On the 13th of Nov 1936 a gale of easterly wind and a heavy fall of snow fell in our district. Four fishing boats were lost, they were smashed up against the east pier wall but no lives were lost.Mr Angus,

Howth - A Storm.An easterly gale struck the east coast of Ireland about 25 years ago which damaged the "Light house" and all the stores on the east pier, these belonged to the "Board of Works". This happened in the time of the haddock fishing. The brook which flows through the town to the harbour flowed over, and many houses were flooded.Mr J. Redmond,
