- One night James Ruane a native of Curranure was coming home from some house where he was visiting. When he was going up the road to his own house he met a funeral of cats and four of them carrying a coffin. One of the cats said to James, "Hurry on and tell Tom Nobbleton to attend the funeral". Tom Nobbleton was the name of a cat which James Ruane had. When James went home and got his supper he told his wife what the cats said to him and what he saw. The cat jumped up and scraped James on the face and said, "Why didn't you tell me when you came up." The the cat jumped put through the window and ran away and never came back again.
