    taught this school was a man called McLaughlin, and he was a stranger, and the farmers gave him free board for teaching their children. This man taught Irish, and they used to write with a bit of a clay pipe on a slate. The teacher remained in Rashenny for ten years, and there was a school built in Rashenny in the year 1818, and the first man that taught in this school was a man called McGuinness, and this man was a stranger.
    There was a school in Ard-na-Mine one time, and it was attended by a large crowd of children every Tuesday on a certain time. John McColgan was the man that taught them, and he used to come across the strand every morning with a large crowd of children, from the Isle of Doagh. This school was always held in Ard-na-Mine, but on a wet day they would go under a bridge. He always got free board, and this was
