- (continued from previous page)There was once a little boy living in Croagh.
One day he heard the fairies playing fiddles in the rocks.
The boy danced until the fairies stopped playing when he stopped the fairies called down "thank you very much".
He was lifted high up in the air by the fairies. And then they took him down into the rock and gave him a lot of money for being so good a boy. They told him he would be rich for life if he would not tell the secret. He promised.
That was all very well. The boy went home but he told his parents nothing about the money for he had it hidden in a very safe place.
He never thought about it any more till his parents died. One day then he thought of it all and remembered where he hid it. He went out and took it in to the house and put it into a bucket. But the next day forgetting his promise to the fairies he told his friends. Then he went home and he went to the bucket for a shilling but on lifting the lid he found the bucket to be full of cats instead of money and when- Collector
