- One day a youth of about twenty two years of age was herding cows on a lonely hill. He wished, hour by hour, he were married and had a home of his own and a good salary to keep him in it.
Suddenly he heard a beautiful sweet voice speaking to him.
"Go" said the voice "to the first crossroads and there you shall see a lady. But be very good mannered and speak politely. Now go your way and I hope you shall succeed in having her as your wife."
Joe left his cows and walked for one day. At ten o'clock the next day he came to the crossroads where stood the lady.
"O you would make a lovely wife for me" said Joe to himself.
"Where are you going my handsome young man?" said the lady.
"In search of a wife" said Joe as politely as the king
