    Mullaghmore near Maam was a stronghold of the OKellys.
    O'Flaherty and Lawlor were '48 men. Lawlor married a rich woman with whom O'Flaherty was in love. He died and left five children. She then married O'Flaherty and had two children. One died and the survivor was Eva, who had or has a lace school in Mayo. O'Flaherty did not thrive. O'Mahoney from Annaghdown made a fortune in Australia, had a house in Galway, bought Lisdonagh House.
    Mr Palmer married in there.
    Pat Greaney of Arddrumcille about 2 miles N.E. of school was great grandfather of the Hessions of Caherhugh on maternal side. He was a poet and composed (i) Seán Og O Ciardubháin (ii) Amhrán na Mine (iii) Dochtúir Jennings.
    These songs are to be found in Mrs Costellos book "Amhrain Muighe Seola.
    Major Kirwan was father of Shawn Og O'Ciardubáin. There was a famine about 1820. Gave out meal to the needy
