  1. There are many well known places in Ireland in which some historical events occured.
    Cloonfush, Cluanfois, is situated about two miles out-side the town. It is called Cloonfush, because there was a meadow there, and it was called the meadow of the retreat. The monks spent their time there on retreat.
    Sylane, Sidhe Oileán, This name was given to the place because there is an island near it where fairies were supposed to be seen.
    Killower, Cill leabhair, Saint Patrick's books were suppowed to have been found there. He came across from Killower to Kilbannon.
    Kilbannon, is a small village outside the town of Tuam. It got its name from its Patron Saint - Saint Beinin.
    Iron-Pool, Poll an Iarinn, There is a well there in which iron to be found.
    Kilgeverin, Cill Gerbhrín - Gervin's church A saint of that name built a church there.
