- The Fairy Mills are about two from Tuam. Long ago it is said that the fairies lived there and the noise of the "Mills" can be heard.
The people left their wheat to be ground and when they came in the morning it would be flour.
There was an old woman who lived near the "Mills" and the people used to pass through her field of hay. It was all trampled down and she was angry. She brought a bag of wheat to the "Mills" and she said "May the curse of Hell be on this place." The next morning the wheat was not changed when she came. This pleased the old woman. After that wheat was never changed into flour.- Collector
