- In olden times there were only three meals in the day namely: breakfast, dinner and supper. The breakfast consisted of porridge and milk, and for the supper, potatoes and milk or porridge.
At that that time there was very little tea. Some people used to have wheaten and oaten meal. They used to have pancakes on Shrove Tuesday night. At that time there were no cups. Wooden noggins and saucepans were used.
The breakfast was eaten at nine o'clock. The dinner was eaten at one o'clock. The supper was eaten at eight o'clock.(continues on next page)
