  1. People began to wear boots at five years of age, when they started to go to school long ago. There was a man by the name of Thomas Cooney, Cartron, who never wore boots. There are two bootmakers in this locality. Mr. Donlan who reside in Abbey and Mr. Daly who resides in Aughrim. The boots are repaired in this locality by these bootmakers. It was always in their family. there are about as many shoemakers out now as there were long ago. The boots
