- Long ago hurling was played in Doill's field between two parishes. When picking the team a boy from each side would stand out and call every second one. They used to have a small round ball, made with corks and covered with leather. They had no goal in that time. When playing the game they watched to see which side would bring the ball the fardest towards their own side. the people would say if they were winning "they would bring the match home with them"(continues on next page)
