- There is a forge in this district situated on the side of the road near a cross-roads on the road leading from Cartron to Clontuskert. John Larkin is the owner of this forge and his people were smiths before him. There is no stream near this forge. The forge is a fair size house built with stones with a thatched roof. It consists of two rooms. One is where the smiths works and the other is where he keeps his iron. There are two ordanerly doors and one fire-place in this forge. The bellows is made of leather and in flakes over one another so as it can give and take air.(continues on next page)
