- Local CuresIn olden times the old people had different ways for curing sores. If anybody had a wart they put a snail or two and rub the snail on the wart and then hide the bacon and when the bacon would rot the wart would also rot. Another cure was a goose-berry thorn and this was used to cure a sty and the way they used to do it was stick the thorn in the sty and then burn the thorn. There is also another cure for a sty. Get a snail and rub the snail on the sty then stick the snail in a thorn bush.Told byEdward Rothwell
