I got this information from the old people of this district. Long ago when they had no weather glasses, they used to judge the weather from the observation of birds, animals and other things.
When the crows and swallows fly low using one wing it is considered a sign of rain. When the cat sits with its back to the fire, or when the dog bites grass, it is a sure sign of rain. When the cattle and horses turn their backs to the west is a sign of approaching rain or mist. When the hens are seen picking themselves and fluttering their feathers it is a sign of rain.
"The evening red and the morning grey, are said to be signs of a very fine day. The evening grey and the morning red will bring down rain o'er the traveller's head".
When the goats are seen coming down from the mountain, and go in shelter it is the sign of approaching storm; when they are seen going up it is a sign of a change to fine weather.- Collector
