Once I Had a servant maid,
The best that could be found,
She used to bear my company
While going to the pond.
Both linen sheets and blankets,
She'd was as white as snow
But now she had forsaken me,
My tail of grief and woe.

Bold was the horizon,
And north-west blew the wind
I never though of accidence,
When I led her by my side
But alas I was mistaken,
My fate was otherwise,
She floated on the rolling waves,
And stole away in disguise.
