  1. This is the way my mother told me that the skibs were made in Ireland long ago. They pulled the sally rods off the bushes and put them into a boiler and boiled them for a few minutes.
    Then they took them up and left them to get cool.They then peeled the skin off. A man came then and took them and wove them into baskets, hampers and skibs. They were used as clothes baskets also. The people used to use
