- (continued from previous page)Long ago when the young girls found the ring they put on an envelope, sealed it and wrote three names on it, a name on each corner blank. For three mornings in succession, without looking at the names, they tore off one, and whatever name remained, was the name of the person they were to marry. Some times they put the alphabet, all the letters separated into a bowl of water, the print side of each little square of paper downwards and whatever letters turned up during the night, was the initial of the person's name they were to marry.
- Toys and pastimes are always attached to child life. The girl children of my district devote themselves to making daisy chains, flower plucking and making sand castles. Sometimes lone little girls stay a whole day on a grassy hilltop making and breaking daisy chains. Other children go off for a summer Sunday ramble through(continues on next page)
